Dr Chien-Wen Liew completed his medical training at the University of Adelaide, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). He subsequently completed orthopaedic surgical training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, obtaining his Fellowship (FRACS) in Orthopaedic Surgery. His subspecialty training in total joint replacement represents advanced expertise in hip and knee surgery.
Dr Liew joined the defence force in 1999 and completed training at Duntroon in 2001, where he was awarded a commission to 2nd Lieutenant. After joining 10/27 RSAR as a reserve infantry platoon commander, he was later promoted to Captain with a sole focus on combat training. In 2008, he transitioned to the Medical Corps and completed his time in the military in 2010. This commitment to service extends beyond the operating theatre and reflects his dedication to the broader medical and community healthcare landscape.
